Check-in and drop-off 4
How early to arriveArrival time Applies to both terminals
Add about 50% to your airline's recommended time, and more for non-Schengen flights (EES checks). Don't come before your counters open; your airline sets opening and closing times, and the airport doesn't publish them.
Check-in, Terminal 1 (modules A–E, Z and Hall F)Check-in and bag drop Your ticket names the area: T1A–T1E = modules on T1 Level 04 (desks A/B/C/D 101–139); T1Z = MAC Level 03. Hall F desks F101–F136 are on Level 03. Self bag drop at A115–118, D108–117, Z101–106 and Z121–126.
Self bag drop (online check-in first) serves Air France, KLM, Condor, Finnair, Icelandair, Norwegian, Qatar Airways and SAS. T1 bag drops can't be used for night-before check-in.
Check-in, Terminal 2Check-in and bag drop Central check-in hall, Levels 03 and 04. Self bag drop on Level 03 (south) and Level 04. Bulky baggage at desk 301 (Level 03) and 427 (Level 04).

Arrival: passport, bags, customs 9
Arriving in Terminal 1 from a Schengen countryArrival steps No passport check. Baggage claim is in your arrival module: belts A1–A2, C1–C2, D1–D2 and E1–E2 on Level 04 (A3 on Level 03). Then the customs exit of that module to the public arrivals area.
Each module has its own claim and exit, so check which module (A–E) your flight arrives at. Display boards in the hall show the expected wait. Based on the airport's interactive map.
Arriving in Terminal 1 from outside SchengenArrival steps T1 Pier: passport control ("Arrival B") on Level 03, then baggage belts B1–B4 on Level 03, then customs. The map also shows arrival passport control with EasyPASS in modules A and D (Level 04). Hall F has its own (F1/F2, Level 03).
Non-EU travellers register for EES at kiosks before the desk. The airport doesn't publish which flights use which arrival hall; follow the signs from the gate.
Arriving in Terminal 2 or the Satellite from a Schengen countryArrival steps No passport check. From the gate, follow the baggage claim signs down to T2 Level 03 (belts 05–21; from the Satellite via the underground train). Exit through customs into the T2 arrivals area on Level 03.
Display boards show the expected wait. A free buggy return point is at the north end of the claim hall. Based on the airport's interactive map.
Arriving in Terminal 2 or the Satellite from outside SchengenArrival steps T2: from the arrival level (Level 06) go down to passport control on Level 05, then down to Level 03 for baggage claim and customs. Satellite: passport control on Level 06, then down to Level 01 and the train to T2 baggage claim (Level 03).
From ANA's airport guide; the airport's map confirms passport control on T2 Level 05 and Satellite Level 06. Non-EU travellers register for EES at kiosks first.
EU Entry/Exit System (EES) kiosksBorder registration Self-service kiosks before the Federal Police border desks at non-Schengen passport control. Signs for non-EU nationals are orange; blue signs are for EU nationals.
Live at Munich since April 2026. Non-EU nationals give a passport scan, photo and fingerprints at a kiosk (biometric passport needed), then see an officer. Children under 12 and travellers with reduced mobility go to staffed desks.
Lost, delayed or damaged checked bagsBaggage services Report it before you leave the claim hall, at your airline's or handling agent's baggage tracing office. Lufthansa Baggage Tracing is in the T2 baggage claim area, Level 03.
The airport doesn't list the T1 desks; ask at an information desk. You get a reference number when you file. The airport's Lost and Found Office does not handle checked bags.
Customs exits (red and green)Customs After baggage claim, at each arrival exit. Customs control points are in every T1 module, Hall F and T2.
Green exit only if everything is within duty-free allowances and not restricted. Over the allowances, commercial goods, or restricted items (e.g. plants from outside the EU) need the red exit. Expect spot checks in green.
Meeting arriving passengersMeeting point T2: the arrivals waiting area on Level 03, next to the arrivals exit and the Bayern-Lounge. T1: outside the customs exit of the module the flight arrives at (A–E).
The airport's flight search shows which area a flight arrives at; check it before you go. There's no named meeting point. A paid Meet & Assist service is based in T2 Level 03.
EasyPASS e-gatesAutomated passport control Passport control for non-Schengen gates in T1 (Pier) and T2/Satellite
EU/EEA/Swiss citizens 12 or older with an e-passport, and German residence-permit holders, need no registration. US, UK and South Korean citizens must register for EasyPASS-RTP at the Federal Police service point (MAC Level 04). Other non-EU travellers use staffed desks.

Lufthansa Express Bus to HauptbahnhofAirport bus T2 bus stop 1 (arrivals area, Level 03), T1 Arrivals B, MAC South Courtyard, and T1 Module D

Take a ticket at the barrier and check it at a pay machine before leaving. The airport asks you to drive to the kerb only once your passenger has their bags and has left the secure area. There is no free cell-phone lot.

Connecting and between terminals 8
T1–T2 shuttle bus (after security)Inter-terminal bus T1: Schengen at gate C08, non-Schengen at gate A28. T2: Schengen at gate G83, non-Schengen by the lift down from H18.
Follow the shuttle signs to your connecting gate. Walking between terminals is possible but not recommended because you must clear checks again. A 2023 airport map shows different T1 stops (A28/D08); this follows the current FAQ.
Walk between T1 and T2 through the MACWalkway From T1, walk into the Munich Airport Center on Level 03 and cross the MAC Forum to T2
Before security only. You re-clear security at the other terminal. Use this for Hall F, which you can only reach on foot from the public area.
T2 to Satellite underground trainAutomated train After security in T2. Follow the signs for gates K and L.
Schengen to Schengen, or non-Schengen to non-SchengenTransfer process Follow the signs to your connecting gate letter. Changing between T1 and T2 means the airside shuttle bus; T2 to the Satellite means the underground train.
Usually no passport control if you stay airside. You may need to clear security again. On one ticket your bags transfer automatically. Arriving from outside the EU, liquids must follow the 100 ml rule; non-EU duty-free can't go on.
Schengen to non-Schengen, or the reverseTransfer process Follow the signs to your gate; passport control sits on the way. T2: Schengen gates G/K on Level 04, non-Schengen H/L on Level 05.
Passport control is required, and your visa may be checked. Non-EU travellers entering Schengen register for EES at kiosks. EasyPASS e-gates speed this up for eligible passports. If border queues risk your connection, tell your airline.
Transfers in T2 and the Satellite (Star Alliance)Transfer routing Arriving at T2 from outside Schengen: go down one floor to Level 05 and follow your gate letter (G/K via passport control, H/L via security). Arriving at the Satellite: security on Level 06, then down to Level 05 and follow the gate letter; take the train for G or H.
From ANA's airport guide. On a non-Schengen to non-Schengen transfer you don't pass immigration here.
Separate tickets (self-connecting) and Hall FTransfer process Collect your bags in the arrivals hall, exit through customs, then check in again at your airline's desks and re-clear security. For Hall F, follow the "Exit/Hall F" signs to the public area and walk.
Allow time for passport control, baggage claim, re-check-in and security queues, plus delays on your first flight. The airport publishes no minimum connecting time; on one ticket the airline sets it.
Meet & Assist (paid escort)Escort service Staff meet you at the arrival gate and walk you to your connecting gate or the exit. Service desk in T2, Level 03 (public area). Book with the order form or meetandassist@munich-airport.de.
