Arrival: passport, bags, customs 7
Arriving from outside the Schengen areaArrival steps Passport control (EasyPASS or EES) → baggage reclaim on Arrivals Level 1 (T1 Halls A, B, C; T3 Area J) → customs green/red exit → Arrivals hall, Level 1
Non-EU visitors are registered in EES (fingerprints and photo), which can mean longer queues. Hand-luggage customs desks sit near the arrival areas. Meeting points are in T1 Area B and T3 Area J.
Arriving from a Schengen countryArrival steps No passport control → baggage reclaim on Arrivals Level 1 (T1 Halls A, B, C; T3 Area J) → customs exit → Arrivals hall, Level 1
Customs spot checks can still happen on EU flights, for example for cash or restricted goods. The airport warns of waits at baggage reclaim at peak times.
EU Entry/Exit System (EES) registration for non-EU travellersEntry/Exit System Self-service kiosks before the passport-control desks, where installed (being rolled out in stages)
With a biometric passport: scan it at a kiosk, give photo and fingerprints, then see an officer. Under 12, no biometric passport, or need help: register at the desk. Applies to short stays (90 in 180 days) since Oct 2025.
Lost, delayed or damaged checked bagsBaggage service Your airline's baggage counter in the baggage claim area, before you exit. Many airlines also take reports online (links in Airlines A–Z).
Only your airline's baggage tracing can help; the airport Lost and Found can't. Lufthansa passengers continuing by train collect bags at the Lufthansa Express Rail claim near the long-distance station.
Customs on arrival (green and red exits)Customs Customs exits at baggage reclaim: T1 Halls A, B and C, Level 1; T3 Area J, Level 1
Green: nothing to declare; red: goods over the allowance. From outside the EU (aged 17+): 200 cigarettes, 1 L spirits, 4 L wine, 16 L beer; other goods up to €430 (€175 under 15). Declare cash of €10,000+.

Taxi ranks (Terminal 1)Taxi Outside Arrivals (Level 1) at Halls A, B and C. There is also a rank at the long-distance station.
About 20–30 min to central Frankfurt, depending on traffic. Tell the driver your airline when you go back to the airport.
Taxi rank (Terminal 3)Taxi Arrivals level (Level 1), Area J
The English page says taxis serve "all three terminals"; the German page says two. T2 is closed, so ranks are at T1 and T3 only.
Local buses 61, 62 and AirLinerBus Bus stops in front of T1 (bus station, Arrivals Level 1, Hall B) and T3 (bus station on the Arrivals level)
Lines 61 (to Südbahnhof) and 62 (to Schwanheim) serve both terminals; AirLiner goes to Darmstadt. FlixBus, Flibco and BlaBlaBus leave from coach park P36, 5 min on foot from T1 via Arrivals C.

Connecting and between terminals 10
SkyLine train T1–T3 (public)People mover T1 station on Level 3, Hall B. T3 station on Level 3, Area J. From the train stations, follow "Terminal 3 G, H, J".
From the T1 rail stations to T3 takes about 10–15 min. The live map's T1 station listing carries a notice that SkyLine Line 2 is out of service, while the airport's pages do not. Allow extra time.
Night shuttle bus T1–T3Shuttle bus Arrivals level: T1 Exit 4 (Hall B), T3 Exit 6
Runs every 5–10 min, about 15 min per trip. The live map says the bus runs only when the SkyLine is not operating.
SkyLine airside transfer to T3 (non-Schengen)People mover SkyLine stations on Level 4 of Concourses B, C and Z. Change trains at the Terminal 2 station (airside only), then follow signs to T3 G, H, J.
For connections between T1 non-Schengen gates and T3. The airport warns you may have to clear security again, and passport control if you switch between Schengen and non-Schengen.
Passenger tunnel between Piers A and B (Schengen)Walkway Between gate A15 and gate B19
Moving walkways under the apron for Schengen connections between Piers A and B, with no security re-check.
Minimum connection time and short-transfer lanesConnection tips Walking-time displays directly behind every security and passport check
Lufthansa raised its FRA minimum connection to 60 min from summer 2025. If your flight shows on the screen at a checkpoint, use the Short Transfer Lane. Airlines' transfer desks reissue boarding passes.
Connecting at FRA - bags, boarding passes and signsTransfer process Monitors at your arrival gate show your onward flight's gate. Walking-time boards stand directly behind every security and passport check.
Bags are usually checked through; if not (or on separate tickets), collect them at baggage reclaim and re-check with your airline. No boarding pass? Use your airline's transfer desk, or the gate information desk. You may have to re-clear security.
Schengen to Schengen connectionTransfer process No border control; go straight to your gate. In T1, Piers A and B are linked airside by the A/B tunnel (gate A15 to B19).
Switching to a gate in the other terminal may mean another security check; check the walking-time boards.
Schengen to non-Schengen connection (leaving the Schengen area)Transfer process Exit passport control on the way to the non-Schengen gates (T1 Piers B, C and Z; T3 Pier J)
EU/EEA/Swiss citizens can use EasyPASS e-gates. Non-EU travellers on a short stay are recorded in the Entry/Exit System (EES) on exit. Short Transfer Lanes apply if your flight shows on the checkpoint screen.
Non-Schengen to Schengen connection (entering the Schengen area)Transfer process Pass entry passport control and hand-luggage customs at FRA, then follow signs to the Schengen gates (T1 Piers A and B; T3 Pier H)
Entry formalities happen at the first Schengen airport, so here. Checked bags clear customs at your final destination. Non-EU visitors register in EES at FRA.
Non-Schengen to non-Schengen connectionTransfer process Stay in the non-Schengen area with no passport control. Piers B and C are walkable; take the SkyLine to Concourse Z or to T3 Pier J.
You may still have to re-clear security, and the old 100 ml liquids rule still applies at transfer checkpoints. Keep duty-free liquids sealed.

Old 100 ml / 1 L bag rule still applies at gates C1, C2, C4, C6, some special T1 checkpoints and transfer checkpoints. Pier C screens at the gate, so duty-free liquids must be in a sealed STEB bag.
Security wait timesWait times No live wait-time page on frankfurt-airport.com
The airport's answer to queues is FRA SmartWay slot booking plus walking-time screens after the checkpoints. No airport-run wait-time page or app feed was found. No priority or fast-track lane is documented on the airport site.
